Young people with Texas Medicaid as their insurance provider are eligible for individual skill building services in addition to their therapy sessions. Skill building in this case includes practicing emotional regulation and social interactions, improving distress tolerance (sharing, waiting your turn, and losing or doing poorly at an activity without a meltdown), and positive reinforcement of therapeutic skills they are learning with their clinicians. This service often occurs once a week for multiple hours and can include activities such as going to parks, playing board games, completing craft or art projects, volunteering in the community, or going on walks exploring the area. This service may be available to clients with private insurance pending prior authorization. Please speak to your clinician for more information or click the link below.
Young people with Texas Medicaid as their insurance provider are eligible for group skill building services in addition to their therapy sessions. Group skill building is available on a limited basis. This service is offered for a series of weeks while young people complete an activity such as a Dungeons and Dragons campaign, Independent Living Skills, gardening (where they plant, grow, weed, and harvest a community garden), etc. Space is often limited and groups are kept small in order to offer high levels of supervision. This service may be available to clients with private insurance pending prior authorization. If you are interested in one of our skill building groups, please speak to your clinician for more information or click the link below.
