Amy Thomas is a licensed clinical social worker with experience working with children and adults from hard places for many years. Currently a professor of practice in social work at Texas A&M University in Kingsville, she also owns and provides online therapy through A Better Tomorrow Behavioral Health in person and online in Kingsville, Texas and online with her clinic Kelley Kids Ranch in Lewiston, Idaho. She offers in-person talk, equine, and art therapy for individuals and family therapy as well as telehealth sessions. At this time, therapy with Amy through A Better Tomorrow Behavioral Health is cash-pay only, though she does accept HSA payments.
Amy has training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Trust-Based Relational Intervention, reactive attachment disorder, dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and children with developmental disabilities. Amy is a proud mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother.
Amy enjoys using horses, art, music, and creativity to help her clients become healthy and happy. She also has a blind and deaf puppy she is training to become a therapy dog.
Amy began training horses professionally when she was eight years old and teaching riding lessons when she was 16 years old, more than 35 years ago. She rode in Combined Training events throughout the northwest region and foxhunted on the east coast. Amy graduated from United States Pony Clubi in 1993 as an HA, a national ranking, then continued instructing. She later returned to training young horses and became a 4-H leader. Amy currently teaches lessons for students on their own horses at their property, will meet them at a local haul-in arena, and has lesson horses available in certain circumstances.

Bourbon is a former roping horse who had an eye injury and is partially blind, which led to anxiety and distrust. He can totally relate to some of our clients!
